John L . Wirt Capital Policeman , Fisk agent, friend and business partner to M. M. White is buried in Congressional Cemetery

Quantico of the Alexandria Sentinel, says:"John L. Wirt, for more than twenty years a member of the Capitol Police, died suddenly this afternoon, from hemorrhage of the lungs. He was an honest man and faithful officer. Some years ago he was seriously wounded by a pistol ball, while aiding to suppress a fracas in the House of Representatives; from the effects of which he never recovered."
